The Outreach and Missions Committee is composed of students
with an interest in spreading God's Word. The committee
meets regularly to pray for missionaries and to plan various
projects. These projects are funded by student donations and
fund-raising drives. The committee, through supporting
student missionary activities such as church planting and
short-term foreign trips, generates a live interest in
missions within the student body. The committee is advised
by a faculty member.
The essence of the Christian faith lies in relating divine
truths to human realities. In Christian Ministry, the
student is confronted with reality and is brought into vital
relationships with people. The practical aspect of the
program is preparing the student for Christian ministry,
with the underlying principle of learning by expression.
Here, classroom instruction will become functional,
integrating academic content and practical experience for
the personal development of the student in areas of
Christian service. All ABC students are required to take
Christian Ministry (See Supervised Ministry, M101 etc.), one
semester per year. Each full-time four-year student must
successfully complete four semester units of Christian
Ministry to graduate. Each two-year student must
successfully complete two semester units of Christian
Ministry. Each one-year student must successfully complete
one semester unit of Christian Ministry. Ministry is
available in the local churches and the community. Community
students may have different requirements based on previous
and present ministry experience.
Students planning to become pastors in the Church of God
General Conference serve seven to nine months in internship.
The internship is administered by the Bible college and is
supervised by a cooperating pastor in a Church of God
congregation. The typical procedure is for one to spend a
school year as an intern pastor immediately following
graduation. Other plans may be developed based upon the
student's academic standing, summer experiences, and/or
special needs.
