against their backgrounds with attention to the theme,
outline, and major doctrines of each book.
B161 Basic Bible Doctrine - 2 hours. A survey
of the fundamental doctrines of the Bible with emphasis on
the distinctive doctrines of the Church of God.

B211 The Bible World Visualized - 2 hours. A study of
the lands of the Middle East and southern Europe . (This
course may be used to meet General Education course
requirements.)
B221 Pentateuch - 2 hours. A study of the
background, introduction, and theological content of the
first Old Testament division. Presents an introduction to
the literature and methods of Old Testament studies.
Detailed exposition of the books Genesis through
Deuteronomy.
B222 History and Major Prophets - 2 hours. A
detailed survey of the prophets against the backgrounds
provided by the history books. The course includes an
outline of background history and Bible history by periods.
As much as possible, there will be a chapter by chapter
exposition of the various books. This course builds upon the
previous course in Old Testament Doctrine and Survey.
B224 History and Major Prophets - 2 hours. This is a
detailed review of the Minor Prophets in light of the
historical and cultural situations they lived in. As much as
possible, there will be a chapter by chapter exposition of
the various books. This course generally follows Old
Testament Doctrine and Survey.
B242 Gospel of John - 2 hours. This unique Gospel is
examined in light of its cultural milieu. We also consider
the errors which John combated in writing it. Its unusual
language requires an intensive consideration of its theology
of Jesus as Son of God.
B244 Romans - 2 hours. Paul’s theological treatise
on justification is examined in careful detail.
Consideration is given to the roles of both Israel and the
church, and an understanding of how Paul’s message was to
bring them together in Christ.
B271 Systematic Theology I - 3 hours. Three
approaches to the study of theology are included in this
term: biblical theology, systematic theology, and historical
theology. Various theological topics are approached using
these models in coming to understand the topics.
B272 Systematic Theology II - 3 hours. In this
second course further approaches to the study of theology
are considered, including dogmatic theology and contemporary
theology. Various theological topics are considered from
each approach in an attempt to learn the strengths and
weaknesses of each approach.

are studied for their devotional and doctrinal value.
B324 Isaiah - 2 hours. Detailed study of the
doctrinal and prophetic truth of this major prophet.
B332 Leviticus and Hebrews — 2 hours. An in-depth
study of Leviticus and Hebrews with a special emphasis on
Christ as fulfillment of the Old Covenant.
B333 Daniel and Revelation - 2 hours. A study of the
prophetic interpretation of these apocalyptic books, with
emphasis on their teaching of Christ’s second coming, His
millennial reign, and God’s eternal kingdom on earth.
B334 Difficult Texts — 2 hours. A detailed
examination of texts presenting unusual difficulty for the
Church of God and students of the Bible in general.
B342 Acts - 2 hours. A study of the geography of the
Middle East theology, important people, miracles, and the
church in Acts.
B343 Pauline Epistles - 2 hours. A survey study of the early
church, its prominent leaders, doctrinal teachings, and the
spread of Christianity with special emphasis on Paul's
missionary journeys.
B344 1st and 2nd Corinthians - 3 hours. A detailed
study of a troubled church exhibiting concerns common to
many modern churches.
B345 Non-Pauline Epistles - 2 hours. An overview of the
non-Pauline section of the New Testament and a detailed
exposition of the letters by Peter, Jude, and John.
B346 Pauline Epistles - 2 hours. A primary focus on
the letters of Galatians through Hebrews.

B441 Synoptic Gospels - 3 hours. A critical
examination of the first three Gospels in light of the
Synoptic problem and in terms of their individual literary
designs.
Additional opportunities: Students may desire to include
additional biblical and theological courses in their
programs. This may be done through correspondence courses,
transfer courses from other institutions, modular video
courses, and independent directed studies.
Directed Study - 1-6 hours. Investigative study on
selected problems by students with particular needs.
These courses are generally assigned as 199, 299, 399, 499
(Freshman - Senior level or work.)
Selected Topic - 1-3 hours. A study of a topic and/or issue
not adequately covered in another course.
