John Maxwell
says, "Everything rises and falls on leadership!"
This class

"irrefutable laws of leadership." The student will be challenged
to grow as a leader. The student will also be challenged to see
that ministry should take place in any vocation they choose.
TERMINAL COURSE OBJECTIVES:
-
To help
students gain an understanding of the skills and traits they
need as leaders
-
To give
students an understanding of the difficulties of leadership
-
To help
students develop a planned approach to church leadership
TEXTS REQUIRED:

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Nashville, Tennessee:
Thomas Nelson, Inc., Publishers, 1998
Briner, Bob.
Roaring Lambs. Grand Rapids, Michigan: Zondervan Publishing

GRADING:
Grading of
assignments will be broken down as follows: 75% for content and
effort (producing good work through proven effort) and 25% for form
(using proper writing skills). Spell-check and Grammar-check all
assignments, as the form segment can lower your grade by up to 25%.
All assignments
are to be typed, double-spaced, with margins no larger than 1 inch

be a 50% deduction per week for any assignment that is late, and
a 20% deduction for turning in an assignment that is not typed.

Mentor reports: Each student will be given a
leadership mentor. Students will give their mentors a short
summary of the ideas put forth in each of 5 chapters of class
reading (see daily schedule for detail). Students will then ask
3 questions of their mentor relating to how those ideas play out
in real life ministry leadership. Both the chapter summary and
the questions will be turned in to the instructor. Each
discussion will be worth 15 points (for a total of 75 points).
These reports will be needed for the response paper.
-
Library
Assignments: Student will research the topics of 5 chapters of
class reading (see daily schedule for detail) in the library
using print (books & periodicals) and Internet searches. Notes
from each reading will be typed (NOT on LA forms). Each
assignment will be worth 15 points (for a total of 75 points).
These reports will be needed for the response paper.
-
Response
Paper: Student will prepare a 4-page response to the book
Roaring Lambs by Bob Briner. This paper will be worth 100
points, and must include research from at least 2
mentor/library assignments.

Quizzes/Papers: There will be up to six or one-page assignments
or quizzes (announced or unannounced) over the assigned
readings. Each quiz will be worth 15 points (for a total of up

per class (for a total of 140 points). Up to 6 points will be

considered one unexcused absence. An additional 10 points
